- Public Transport customer service: I did let them know I had installed Prey and they said if you do get any information let them know.
- Time it took for first report to arrive: One week.
- Once received, time it took for police to recover it: Took them a bit of time.
- Final thoughts: Cannot thank the developers of the software enough.

- Theft: Flat burglary

- Police reaction: The police said that because there were no leads they would have to close the case, but they asked that if anything came up through Prey I contact them immediately. When I did this three weeks later they were very keen to re-open the case and use the information I gave them from the Prey reports.
- Time it took for first report to arrive: 3 weeks
- Once received, time it took for police to recover it: Immediately upon the first report coming in.
- Final thoughts: It’s pretty bloody awesome to get my lap top back!

- Police reaction: We had to search through about 100 potential suspects near the address, you are very lucky
- Time it took for first report to arrive: ~4 months
- Once received, time it took for police to recover it: 3 days, but it took 10 months total to get it back
- Final thoughts: Relieved and surprised. Never thought I’d see my laptop again

Lost+Found: Case B3K7 – Berkeley, USA

- Location: Berkeley, CA.
- Date Stolen: August 31, 2012.
- Date Recovered: September 20, 2012.
- Theft: Apartment Robbery.
- Missing items: Macbook, Roommate’s Macbook + DSLR.
- Police reaction: This is common, we can’t do much.
- Time it took for first report to arrive: 4 days – Received first and only report 12:40pm Tuesday 21th.
- Once received, time it took for police to recover it: A few days.
- Final thoughts: Grateful. Lucky. Fortunate.

Lost+Found: Case V4D1 – Frigate Bay, St. Kitts

- Location: Frigate Bay, St. Kitts
- Date Stolen: August 17, 2012
- Date Recovered: August 21, 2012
- Theft: House broken into
- Missing items: Macbook Pro, Lenovo notebook, iPod Shuffle, two Lumix cameras, $500 cash, Kindle
- Police reaction: The initial detective wasn’t sure what Prey’s reports had to offer, but once more technical Inspectors and police got involved they knew they had a rare chance to actually catch the user, whether he be the actual thief or the recipient of stolen goods.
- Time it took for first report to arrive: 4 days – Received first and only report 12:40pm Tuesday 21th
- Once received, time it took for police to recover it: 5 hours. Police were scouring the area immediately and we got word two suspects were in custody by 5:30pm Tuesday
- Final thoughts: Kind of felt like I was the Inspector Gadget for a while. Seeing the photo of someone using your stuff is unnerving!
Tip: Don’t lock down your computer right away. If your first report shows that the user is accessible, allow the software to keep giving your updates. We were lucky that the screenshot I received contained so much information, because my locking the computer kept the user from staying and getting back online!
