CBS 5 ran a story on how Prey helps recover lost devices and how all its features work, along with one of our many success stories by not only talking with an user who recovered his notebook, but also showing how Prey works in real time.
By using Prey’s geolocation features, Arizona’s Ed Kennedy, an IT Manager for a local company managed to retrieve his laptop one month after it was stolen. Along with the security software, he also had help from the local police in order to access it.
After falling victim of a burglary, Ed thought his laptop was lost, but a month after he got a notification stating that his laptop was being used by a woman, along with a location and photo, which he used to create a Prey report to take to the police and get his computer back.
As soon as the device is connected to Wi-Fi, if it is reported as missing Prey will start creating reports with photos every few minutes, and when one is accurate, people like Ed will be able to recover their devices by knowing where it is, who has it, and where it is being moved to.
But these aren’t Prey’s only features. It also has the ability to create Control Zones and manage more than one device by registering them into a single account, letting users control all their devices just by logging into their computer.
This is just one of our case studies, and we’re pretty sure more will add up. Hopefully you’re not the next one to fall victim of a robbery, but if you do, you can rest assured that with Prey, there’s always a chance to get it back.
