Prey allows you to efficiently track and locate your remote devices, offering actions like screen locking and status updates for lost devices. It supports major operating systems like Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, Ubuntu and Android, and works smoothly with computers, tablets, and smartphones.
Prey uses the GPS receiver in Android mobiles to determine their location. For devices operating on Windows, MacOS, Chrome OS, and Ubuntu, location tracking is achieved through Wi-Fi positioning. Prey employs triangulation to estimate the most probable location of your computer.
There are several reasons why the location might be inaccurate. If your device lacks GPS capabilities, we primarily depend on Wi-Fi for location tracking. In the absence of both GPS and Wi-Fi, there's still a possibility to locate your device, although it may require additional steps.
Unfortunately, we can only assist with devices that are linked to a user account through the Prey configuration. It's important to set up Prey on your devices as a preventive measure, as we can only provide support for those we have already registered. Please ensure your devices are protected in advance to avoid any issues.
