Our User’s Story: Trapping a Thief in Starbucks

I installed this on my business partners laptop quite some time ago (2+years). When he called me to tell me that his laptop was stolen, I logged in to the Prey account (after resetting the password because it was so long ago) and marked it as missing.

I Received the first report almost a day later. The thief was at a Starbucks only a block away from my partner’s office! I send him the report and off he went.

My partner located the thief thanks to a very clear picture of him. My partner kept the thief in the Starbucks while his brother called the police. Once they arrived he was arrested on the spot.

The thief had not only stolen his laptop, but two backup drives he happened to have with him at the time. Also, my partner had a cover over the computers camera, which the thief removed before using the laptop, making identifying him a breeze! We really appreciate this app and how well it does what it does!

Final thoughts: Like a hero!

When things like this happen, better be ready.
